Pixie is doing really well. The vets are very pleased with her progress :D She’s eating well and managing to use her litter tray which means that there isn’t the nerve damage to her bladder that they were concerned about. When I was there she stood up on all four legs and moved around a bit. The vet said that earlier she had been washing herself in typical yoga-cat positions which means she’s clearly not in too much pain and able to move really well. She’s really interested in everything that is going on and is enjoying all the cuddles and attention. She’s had her little tummy shaved (and some of her legs and a bit on her neck) and she tried to roll over so I could tickle it! She purred really loudly the whole time i was there. She’s being so brave, I’m really proud of her. They might put her operation back to Tuesday when there will be more staff on duty to look after her. I’ll find out tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and messages

Here are a few more photos from today’s visit.

I went to see Pixie again today, she is doing lots better. She was really pleased to see me and was a lot more alert that yesterday. She was, however, lying in her litter tray! The nurse moved her onto her blanket but it seems that she prefers the tray. We took in her blanket so she has something that smells of home. She move about a bit while we were there and it seems she can move her legs ok, even if it is with some difficulty. When I arrived the vet had just been hand feeding her some fish and apparently she had eaten lots so that is great.

Her operation is on Monday, until then they are keeping her comfortable and on lots of morphine. She is being so brave.

Get well soon little Pixie

Pixie and Arty’s human here, Arty can’t type much at once!

I got to visit my baby girl today. She was so glad to see me and spent 20 minutes rubbing her head all over my face. She’s being so brave.

The vet showed me her xrays and one side of her pelvis is broken in 3 places and is now in the wrong place. They are going to operate to put it back and pin it in place on Monday. They want to let her recover from the general anesthetic she has just had and also let her internal organs have more time to heal.

She is doing well as can be expected for a kitty who has been hit by a car. The vets and nurses are amazing and I can’t thank them enough for all they are doing for her.

Get better soon Pixie, I love you.

Pixie is still at the vets after being hit by a car. They seem pleased with her progress so far. She is waiting for another xray to see how badly broken her pelvis is.  She has managed to eat and pee which are great signs of how well she is doing.  Hopefully she will be home and well soon.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and messages.

I really miss her :(

Poor little Pixie has been hit by a car and is at the cat hospital  :( The vet is having trouble locating her bladder and thinks she has fractured her pelvis so she has to have more scans and a possible operation.

This is her last night hanging out on a pile of clothes

We got a new blanket! The human brought it home yesterday and spouted some nonsense that it was for her but we all know whose it is really! It is sooooo soft and comfy!

We just came across this by the door. It better not mean what I think it means! Last time we got put in boxes we went and stayed in a place with lots of other cats and nice ladies looked after us but it wasn’t home and it wasn’t with our human :( She was gone for ages, I didn’t think she’d ever do that to us again :(

I’m gonna go complain

It all seems so long ago now. I will be 3 in September. I was born on a farm where an evil lady kept 10 of us in a rabbit hutch. Some of them were my brothers and sisters and some of them had a different mummy. We were only 6 weeks old when they took us away from our mummies and we could only talk to them through the wire. It was very mucky and horrible in the rabbit hutch and some of us got very ill. One day my human came along and rescued me. When she saw how badly we were being kept she rang the RSPCA who rescued the others. Some of them were too ill to survive :( My human washed me (which was horrid but I was covered in poop) and took me to the vets who gave me some medicine. After a few good dinners and lots of hugs I felt much better and settled in to my new home with my human who would do any thing for me.

Here are some photos of me when I was little.

There are some poor little kitty cats out there that don’t have their own humans to boss around, to give them cuddles and to feed them dinners :( Lots of them are lucky enough to be looked after by wonderful charities who try to find them new homes.

This is from the Battersea Dog and Cat’s Home website

This summer, it’s a full house here at Battersea’s Cattery and so now is the perfect time for London’s cat lovers to make us their first point of call when looking for a new feline friend.

This year there has been a 9% drop in the number of people looking to rehome a cat from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home but the need has never been greater.  At our London site, of a total capacity of 145 cat pens 143 are in use with a further 174 cats waiting to come in.  The drop in cat rehoming is in stark contrast to dog rehoming, which has increased 20% from 2008 to 2009.Ros Davies, Cat Rehomer at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, said:

“Summer is traditionally a busier time of the year for us because the warmer weather usually means there are more kittens brought in.  But this summer’s 9% drop in rehoming figures has taken us all by surprise.  People might think of Battersea as more of a home for dogs than cats, but cats are just as important and need loving new homes too.  At the moment the cattery is approaching full capacity and we are being forced to add people to the waiting list if they arrive at the Home with a cat.

“We have a huge range of cats and kittens looking for new homes at the moment; including lots of kittens, an older Maine Coon called Chloe and many adult cats of all ages, colours, hair length and personalities; so we urge anyone who is considering buying a new cat to get in touch.

Photo and picture opportunities of our cats and kittens are available.  Please contact Battersea’s press office for further information.
