Poor Arty keeps having lots of problems and had to go back to the vets again on Friday as his urine was full of blood

He is on Cystease to help his bladder, antibiotics incase of infection, painkillers and Zylkene to reduce stress. Hopefully we can finally find a long term solution so that this doesn’t keep happening. He was already on a raw diet which is supposed to be very good for FLUTD, he has been put on a prescription diet just to see if that helps. After lots of tests the vets have ruled out any medical reasons for his problems they think it is because of stress. He has been beaten up a few times by a local bullycat. We’re now taking measures to catproof our garden so that they get the freedom of outside but can’t get into conflicts with other cats. Hopefully it will help *fingers crossed*
Urinary Tract problems in male cats can be very very very serious so it is important to get your kitty to a vet as soon as you notice any of the symptoms.
They are:
- difficulty and pain when urinating
- increased frequency of urination
- blood in the urine
- urination outside the litter-box and in inappropriate places
- sometimes complete obstruction to urine outflow (vet treatment must be sought immediately if this is the case)
- Some cats show only behavioural change, loss of litter-box training and/or aggression
FAB Cats do a great information page on causes and treatment, worth a read

We were having a lovely nap when someone rudely woke us up with their noisy camera.

Arty has been bitten on his tail and had to go to the vets today. Poor little guy. Hopefully a few cuddles will make him feel better.

Poor little Pix

She’s hurt her throat, it’s all red and painful. She’s been given antibiotics and painkillers. Hopefully nothing is stuck in her throat, if she’s still coughing on Monday, the vet wants to investigate further. Fingers crossed she’ll be ok before then!
Arty is still ill, his urine is still full of blood so he’s now on Zylkene to hopefully chill him out so he can get over this.

Get well soon little kitties

My turn to play with the toys
I’m still not well and had to go back to the vets this morning because I was peeing blood
They gave me a super dooper injection that made me feel goooood
I’m still not 100% but I’ve been having fun with my new toys.

We got toys in the post today!! The human ordered them from Purrs in our Hearts. They are so much fun! We got cubes, a catnip fishy and da bird. Arty is busy sleeping so I’ve been testing them out.

Last time I went outside I got hit by a car. That was on the 27th August. Since then I’ve spent what seemed like forever in a cage, followed by two weeks house arrest.
Today I got to go outside for the first time since then! It is a bit scary. There are lots of noises and stuff happening. It’s nice to be out exploring though. I think I’m going to stay in our garden for a while and practice my running and climbing before I venture further afield.

After a long day at the vets I need to catch up on my sleep. There’s lots of blankets and stuff on top of the wardrobe and it’s nice and quiet too. Hopefully I wont’ fall off in my sleep!

Pixie has been snoozing on a bag of wool which looks a lot more comfy than the bag of apples she was sitting on last night

Sweet dreams

Poor little Arty had to go back to the vets. He couldn’t pee, they had to put a catheter in. He’s had scans and tests and all sorts but they think he’s well enough to be home. He’s on lots more medication so he’s feeling a bit better. He’s been really brave. Hopefully the vets can work out what keeps causing this so he doesn’t have to go through it again.
